

Michael Edward Cain, 69, of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully on February 14, 2025, in Indianapolis.
Michael was born on December 12, 1955, to Lynn William Cain Sr. and Maggie Pauline (Woods) Cain. A proud graduate of Shortridge High School, he later attended Indiana University. He was married to Cassandra D. (Hutchens) Gray (m. 1979-1987), and from their union, two sons were born—Christopher Michael Cain and Brandon Matthew Cain Sr.
Michael was a hardworking man who dedicated years of service to Allison Transmissions and spent time on the road as a truck driver. His larger-than-life personality, infectious sense of humor, and warm, welcoming heart made him unforgettable. His charisma lit up every room, and his laughter was a true gift to those around him.
A man of simple joys, Michael found his greatest peace fishing and spending cherished moments with his family. Whether telling stories, cracking jokes, or simply enjoying the company of his loved ones, he created memories that will live on forever.
Michael is preceded in death by Lynn William Cain Sr (father); Maggie Pauline (Woods) Cain (mother); Lynn William Cain Jr (brother); and Lanessa Austin (niece).
He leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish his memory:
• Children: Christopher Michael Cain, Brandon Matthew Cain Sr. (Brenda Cain)
• Siblings: Sandra Ridley, Georgia Cain (sister-in-law), and Shelly Cain
• Grandchildren: Taylor Cain, Christopher Michael Cain II, Brandon Cain Jr., Natalie Cain, Alexandra Cain, Scarlett Cain, Levi Cain, Victoria Cain, Sire Cain, and Tyson Cain
• Nephews & Nieces: Rhonda Williams, Yalonde Martin (Brad Martin), Shonda Avant, Lanita Shelton (Gregory Shelton), and Lynn William Cain III
Michael also leaves behind 15 great nephews and nieces, 9 great-great nephews and nieces who adored him and will forever cherish his love, wisdom, and humor.
Michael’s life will be honored with a funeral service on Sunday, February 23, 2025, at 3:00 PM at Crown Hill Funeral Home, officiated by Pastor Kenneth Lee of Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church. A repast will follow.
