Mildred A. Fitzgerald

92, of Indianapolis passed away Saturday, December 28, 2013. Mildred was born April 30, 1921 in Indianapolis to the late Benjamin F. and Margaret (Kinsella) Pope. Her life’s vocation was being a loving and dedicated mother to her eight children. She also was an officer of Capitol City Supply Company. Mildred was devoted to her Catholic faith and was a graduate of St. John Academy, and a member of their alumni association. She was a member of St. Joan of Arc Altar Society and St. Luke Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, James Fitzgerald; son, James Fitzgerald, Jr. and daughter Patricia Lavelle. Mildred is survived by her sons, Michael (Yinghui), Richard (Edie), and John (Lisa) Fitzgerald; daughters, Joan (Steve) Gutzwiller, Peggy (Andy) Walko and Liz (Tom) Kiesle; son-in-law, Tom Lavelle; sisters-in-law, Margaret Prout and Genevieve Pope; grandchildren, Tom (Kim) Gutzwiller, Brian (Amy) Gutzwiller, Theresa (Travis) Barker, Andy Walko, Jr. (Sharyl), Thomas and Patrick Lavelle, Katie Lavelle (Ben), Gifford (Natalie) Fitzgerald, Taylor, Winston and Caroline Fitzgerald, Dallas Jones, Adrianne (Andy) Taylor, James N., Joshua, Mary, Benjamin, and Rachel Fitzgerald; great-grandchildren, Sheridan, Kendall, Brooke and Blaire Gutzwiller, Andrew and Luke Barker, Ellie Walko, Annika Hamburger-Lavelle, Grace Fitzgerald, James, Joshua and Isabella Taylor and Evan Jones. Visitation will be Friday, January 3, 2014 at St. Luke Catholic Church, 7575 Holliday E. Drive, Indianapolis, IN 46260 starting at 12:00 pm until the Mass of Christian Burial at 2:00 pm. Burial follows at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to Lumen Christi Catholic School or to Little Sisters of the Poor.
