

Mozetta attended primary education in Indianapolis Public Schools system including Crispus Attucks High School. She received her degree in Early Childhood Development from Michigan State University. She later furthered her education by receiving a Certification in Business and Accounting from Indiana Business College.
Mozetta was employed with Head Start Early Childhood Education Program as a Preschool Teacher for 13 years. She then went on to experience occupational fulfillment that spanned a 30+ year career with the Indianapolis Urban League. She held various positions prior to be promoting into her final role as an Accounting Clerk.
Mozetta professed a hope in Christ at an early age and was baptized by the late Reverend Stephen A Wells at Corinthian Missionary Baptist Church. She remained a faithful member, serving on the church Usher Board.
Mozetta enjoyed gardening and maintaining a beautiful flower bed. Some of her favorite plants were Purple Lilies and Rhododendrons, tulips, and roses. She also had a few hobbies as well, which included her love for arts and crafts, crocheting, and working crossword puzzles (she knew all the hard answers). Mozetta was an avid reader of the Bible, encyclopedias, and Readers Digest.
Mozetta was united in holy matrimony to Henry Michael Smith Sr. for over 60 years. To this union six children were born.
Mrs. Mozetta Norwood Smith departed this life on Sunday April 7, 2024. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Michael Smith, Sr., her two brothers and three sisters: Mozel Norwood (twin), Walter Norwood Jr., Elizabeth Edwards, Emily F Hughes, and Rebecca Clark.
Mozetta leaves to cherish her memory are sons; Henry Michael Smith Jr. and Anthony S. Smith; four daughters; Michelle Hughes, Kimberly A. Smith (John), Sherry L. Smith, and Shauna D. Smith. Two sisters; Beatrice Morris and Annie Norwood. Two special nieces; Beverly Dean and Angie Bradley. (all of Indianapolis, IN); Host of Grandchildren, great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
