He departed this life and went to be with the Lord Thursday, October 11, 2012 at his home at the age of eighty-six.
Eddie (Ed), as he was known to many, accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age and was baptized into Zion Baptist Church, Owensboro, Kentucky. He served the Lord by singing in the choir.
A veteran of the United States Army Air Forces, Eddie served his country from 1944 to 1946, during World War II including the U.S. occupation of Hiroshima, Japan and received an honorable discharge for his momentous service. He was also recruited as a Tuskegee Airmen.
In 1947, Eddie attended Indiana University, Bloomington, Indiana.
In 1955, Eddie was united in Holy Matrimony to Elizie R. Randolph and to this union three children were born.
Eddie was employed at Uniroyal, retiring in 1976 after 25 years of service. After retirement Eddie held position of employment at North & West Liquors and City of Indianapolis Crossing Guard until March 2012.
Eddie will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was devoted to his family and there was not anything he wouldn't do for them. Kind, considerate, encouraging, generous, soft spoken, and a man of his word; he had a great sense of humor, never lost his temper, was always willing to help someone in need and was the best friend any person could ever have. A man of great wisdom, he always had an answer for every situation with very few words. He touched the lives of many and will be sadly missed by all who knew and love him. He always had a caring heart for others and could put a smile on your face no matter the circumstances.
