

Mr. Melvin Leroy Brown, the son of Olivia E Walker- Brown, Reid L. Brown and Margaret Walker-Taylor, was born on July 3, 1933 in Indianapolis, IN. He completed his education in the Indianapolis Public System. He joined the Armed Forces, Air Force Branch in 1953 and was honorably discharged on January 18, 1957. After leaving the military, Melvin joined the Indianapolis Police Department. He left the police department to go back to school graduating from Indiana Central College with his Bachelor of Science Degree in 1974. In 1978 Melvin starting working at Ameritech and in 1995 he retired. Even after retiring, he still felt the need to work so in 2006, he started working for SECURATEX, LTD as a security guard. He was still working there until January of this year. Melvin enjoyed music, drinking tons of milk, going out to eat and watching really, really old movies. He loved comics and was very creative. Mr. Melvin Leroy Brown departed this life on Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at the age of eighty-two years, eight months and one day. He leaves to cherish his memory, his brother and sister-in-law Julius and Rosemary Taylor, nieces Sherry Taylor-Peters, Linda Taylor-Henry, Julia Taylor, Qiana Taylor, Brenda Green. Nephews Garry Taylor and Prentiss Green II, great nieces and nephews, cousin Johnny Howard, other relatives and friends. The Family would like to acknowledge Shawn Harper-Jenkins for the care and love she shown to Melvin. Thank you so much for going beyond the call of duty.
