

She received her education from local area schools of Indianapolis, Indiana, primary School 42 (Elder W. Diggs) and Crispus Attucks High School, class of 1949. She received her Bachelor's degree in Chemistry from Purdue University in 1954.
At an early age she accepted Christ and was baptized and was a long time member of Bethel A.M.E. Church even though she resided in California.
She leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 41 years, Elbert C. Johnson, her son, Linwood James (Lori) Smith, Jr., of Williamsburg, Virginia; her grandson, Scott Quincy Smith, Woodbridge, Virginia; her granddaughter, Erika Nicole Smith, Woodbridge, Virginia; her brothers, Charles R. (Betty) Childress of Los Angeles, California, Dr. Michael H. Childress of Silver Springs, Maryland; two special cousins (Brothers), James Anderson and Dwight Anderson; three special sisters, BJ Childress, Alice Keno Wilson and Rudy Keno Malone; twelve nieces and nephews, Tony, Deidre, Claudette, Lisa Deloris her namesake, Randy, Anne-Margaret, John, Michael, Candice, Scott, Drew, and Daron; and a host other relatives and friends.
