Nancy Jane Cranny

Nancy Jane Cranny, 99, of Indianapolis, departed this life Friday, April 25, 2025. Nancy was born November 22, 1925 to the late James and Dorothy (Wiese) McClamroch. Nancy was a life long resident of Indianapolis. She graduated from Broad Ripple High School and Butler University where she was a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority.

Nancy married Jerry Cranny on August 7, 1948 at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church and they were together for 67 years prior to Jerry’s passing. She and her husband were dedicated charter members of St. Pius X Catholic Church where she was involved in numerous church and school activities.

Nancy was member of the Day Nursery Auxiliary and other social groups where she enjoyed golf, tennis, bowling, and playing bridge. She loved playing the piano and reading and writing poetry. Nancy would often recite classic poems from memory to anyone who would listen!

Throughout her life, Nancy enjoyed spending summers in Michigan with her family and friends and winters in Florida.

Nancy is survived by her devoted children Marcia (George) FitzGerald, Kevin (Susan) Cranny, Joann Zeph, Patricia (Mark) Hendrickson, Carolyn (Robert) Siderys, and Elizabeth (John) Harlan; son-in-law Christopher (Jessica) Hehmeyer, her sister Dorothy (Keith) Bundy, and her brother-in-law, Richard Cranny; 18 grandchildren,14 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Nancy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jerry and her daughter, Janis Hehmeyer.

Nancy’s family is grateful to the caregivers at Hooverwood Living for the excellent care and attention they gave to Nancy during the 2 ½ years she lived there.

Visitation will be Thursday, May 8, 2025 at 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 7200 Sarto Dr. Indianapolis, IN 46240. A Mass of Christian Burial will immediately follow at 11:00 AM. Interment follows at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.
