Nancy was born on February 25, 1934 to Lucian B. Smith and Elizabeth Stidham in Pardee, Virginia. Mom then met and married Walter G. Sturgill in Virginia and started her family. They moved to Indianapolis in 1960 for better employment opportunities, where they continued to grow their family. Nancy was preceded in death by her mother, Elizabeth in 1950, her father, Lucian in 1961, and her five brothers David B., James Harvey, Roy A, Ray Franklin, and Lucian B. Jr.; and son Walter Garvey Sturgill Jr. in 2021.
She is survived by her children: son, Michael L. Sturgill and daughters, Robin K Maher, of IN; Dawn Sturgill, wife of Harold L. Hatfield, of TN; Karen G, wife of Allen E. Lyon, of TN.
Nancy also leaves behind a brokenhearted, supportive group of relatives, including grandsons, Jason Hollan, of IN and his children and Stevan Sturgill, of IN and his children; and countless friends.
