Neil DeShaw Barton

Neil DeShaw Barton, 75, of Indianapolis, passed away Thursday, September 13, 2018 at home. He was born November 15, 1942 in Indianapolis to the late Harrison “Harry” and Marjorie (Kerschner) Barton. He is also preceded in death by his brothers, James, Daniel, and Mark Barton. Neil graduated from Howe High School. He was a US Navy veteran and member of American Legion. He belonged to Christ the King Catholic Church and Northside KofC. Neil retired from American Family Insurance in 2009 after a 42 year career highlighted by being Indiana’s #1 agent. He also enjoyed golf, but he most enjoyed his family, especially his grand and great grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Barbara Barton; daughters, Marjorie and Deanna Barton; son, Neil Barton Jr.; brothers, Harry and Gary Barton; sister, Shelly; 5 grandchildren; and 8 great grandchildren. Visitation will be 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm Monday, September 17, at Feeney-Hornak Keystone Mortuary, 2126 E. 71st St., Indianapolis, Indiana 46220 and 10:00 am to 11:00 am Tuesday, September 18, at Christ the King Catholic Church, 5884 Crittenden Dr., Indianapolis, Indiana 46220. His Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 am Tuesday at the church with military honors to follow. He will be laid to rest at Our Lady of Peace Cemetery in Indianapolis at a later date.
