

Oscar received his elementary and high school education at De Soto Parish Training School in Mansfield. He was a graduating member of the class of 1962. He would go on to continue his education with one year of college.
After which he would spend a short period in the United States Air Force training as an Air Force Police Officer. But he soon realized that this was not the route for him.
A few years later he would move to Indianapolis, Indiana where he would meet his future wife, Louise.
They married in August of 1972.
During the times of Affirmative Action, he would later be recruited by Blakley’s Flooring for an apprenticeship. There he would learn how to become a Master Ceramic Tile Setter. He would work for them from the late 60's until the early 80's. He then ventured out on his own to become self employed
utilizing these master skills.
Later in life he decided to forego his business and began working for FedEx, he retired from there in 2016. Oscar was a loving Christian family man and believed in making family connections. He was a history buff, music lover, avid reader and a great singer. If you needed to figure something out, ask Oscar, because he knew the answer. He knew everything. LOL. He was a faithful and active member of Grace Communion Church for over 25 years.
Oscar departed this life on June 14, 2024 at the age of 80 years. He is preceded in death by his father, Oscar L. Brown Sr., mother, Nellie Ruth Brown, brother, Eugene Brown, sister, Wanda Edwards, and daughter, Sharon Bingham.
He leaves to cherish, wife, Louise, sons, Gary and William (Roxy), daughters Linda, Kim (Robert), Valerie, Nicole, and Shaneca (daughter in love). Grand-kids: Montez, Shay, Jason, Jarvis, Amber,
Monique, Justin, Eric, Marquita, Eboni, Zamaria, Jayden, Adam, Alana, Malachi, Vanessa, Warren, Clementine, Shanita and Darius. 29 great grand-kids and a host of nephews, nieces, and cousins.
A visitation for Oscar will be held Saturday, June 29, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Crown Hill Funeral Home & Cemetery, 700 W. 38th St., Indianapolis, Indiana 46208, followed by a celebration of life at 12:00 PM.
