Phyllis Ann Moore (Walden) was born to Emma D. Long and Harry L. Walden in Indianapolis, Indiana on July 31, 1934. She graduated from Crispus Attucks High School in 1952. She was the youngest of eight brothers and sisters and had seven children of her own and raised them with the fear of God and love and protection of a Lion with her cubs.
Phyllis loved the Lord and professed her faith in Christ at a very young age and had been a member of Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church for nearly 60 years.
She put her heart and soul into everything she did from raising, loving (and spoiling) all her children and grandchildren, to speaking her mind and letting you know how she felt, whether you wanted to hear it or not, lol. She loved cooking and entertaining her family and friends on holidays and special occasions as well as on just a regular day and would often say, “I cooked, y’all better come on over here and eat this food” and she didn’t have to say it twice. Phyllis never met a stranger, and she never turned anyone away if she thought she could help in any way and always made everyone feel welcomed.
Phyllis was retired from RCA and Indianapolis Public Schools and spent her free time with church activities, cooking, volunteering at the American Heart Association and enjoying and caring for her grandchildren. She had a way of making anyone she encountered feel special.
Phyllis leaves to cherish her memory, three children: Darryl L. Anderson, Sr., Lori V. Gray and Raquel D. Gray and four children that proceeded her in death: Stephen L. Rogers, Robert. E. Anderson, Jeanine R. Anderson and Tracy L. Anderson and a host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren and friends.
