Ramona "Mona" Geraldine Smith

Ramona "Mona" Geraldine Smith, age 91, of Carmel, Indiana passed away on Wednesday, April 19, 2023. She was born April 26, 1931 in Indianapolis to George E. Walker and Pauline Kerner. Ramona attended grade school at St. Joan of Arc and graduated from Shortridge High School in Indianapolis. After high school, she attended Indiana University. Ramona was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish and a beloved resident of The Stratford in Carmel. She was also an associate of The Sisters of St. Francis of Oldenburg. Ramona retired from St. Pius X Parish. She loved her faith, her family, her country and Friday night happy hour. Ramona was preceded in death by her husband, Andy Smith and her daughter, Debra Legendre. Ramona is survived by her daughter, Lisa Powers Dunn; grandchildren, Jason (Rachael) Legendre, Scott Thaxton, Christina (Corey) Barnes; and four great grandchildren, Nicholas, Alexis, Landon and Everly, who affectionately called her Gigi. A visitation for Ramona will take place on Monday, April 24, 2023 from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Feeney Hornak Keystone Mortuary, 2126 E. 71st Street, Indianapolis, IN 46220. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, April 25, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, 14598 Oak Ridge Rd, Carmel, IN 46032. Immediately following the Mass, Ramona will be laid to rest at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens, 9700 Allisonville Road, Indianapolis, IN.
