95, of Fishers, IN., passed away on April 2, 2015 after a brief illness. The fifth of nine children, Ray was a graduate of Cathedral High School and Butler University. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II and the Korean War. Upon enlistment, he was assigned to the mounted U.S. Cavalry prior to attending Officer Candidate School. He was a Commercial Underwriter for Allstate Insurance prior to his retirement.
In 1948, he married the love of his life, Mary McGinn. They were married 56 years until her death in 2004.
He was a devout Catholic; most recently attending St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Fishers.
Ray was, in the truest sense, a gentleman and a gentle man who delighted in life. Despite his small stature, he made a jolly Santa Claus for his co-workers at Allstate as well as for the Franciscan convent at Scecina High School. He treasured his weekly champagne brunches with his family, a tradition for more than three decades. The world was richer by his presence.
Survivors include his sons, Terry Hannigan (Ann Ricciardelli) and Matt Hannigan (Paula), and his sister Rosemary Hudson of Sylva, North Carolina, along with many nieces and nephews.
Private services were held. Services entrusted to Feeney-Hornak Keystone Mortuary. Tributes may be made at www.feeneyhornakkeystone.com
