Born on August 19, 1964, to Sylvia K. Jefferson (Roar) and Houston Mills Sr. From an early age, she carried a gentle spirit marked by generosity, compassion, and a heart willing to give far beyond herself.
Rhonda’s life was firmly rooted in her faith. Baptized and steadfast in her walk with the Lord, she lived her beliefs with humility and devotion. She read her Bible faithfully, allowing God’s Word to guide both her heart and her hands. Her faith was not quiet—it was active and visible. To countless children, she became a true “neighborhood mom,” gathering them for weekly Bible study, feeding their bodies and spirits, offering encouragement, and reminding them that God’s love was real, personal, and never out of reach.
A woman of perseverance and purpose, Rhonda pursued higher education toward an Associate’s Degree in Accounting and completed a Hospitality Certification Program. She spent many years as a machine operator at Delco Remy America in Anderson, Indiana, where she was admired for her dedication and strong work ethic. Later in life, she answered a calling to care for others, earning her Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license and devoting herself to serving seniors with patience, tenderness, dignity, and compassion.
Rhonda’s presence brought warmth wherever she went. She was truly the life of the party—known for her beautiful spirit, love of fashion, and infectious laughter that could light up any room. She found great joy in cooking for her children and creating moments of togetherness, whether playing games or simply sharing time with her children, grandchildren, siblings, and her late mother. Being a mother and grandmother was her greatest joy, and she poured her whole heart into those roles.
Even in her final weeks, Rhonda continued to serve others. She volunteered faithfully with her son’s organization, The Ross Foundation, supported local churches and food pantries, and remained a source of comfort to everyone around her, always ensuring no one went without.
Rhonda was preceded in death by her parents, Houston Mills Sr. and Sylvia K. Jefferson (Thomas Roar), and her beloved son, David Pearson.
A visitation will be held at 11 a.m., on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at New Life, 7860 Lafayette Rd, Indianapolis, IN 46278, with service at 1 p.m.
