

67, of Indianapolis, passed away Thursday, July 7, 2011. He was born August 27, 1943 in Warren, PA to the late Donald S. and Elsie M. (Gheres) Cummings.
Richard was a proud and patriotic veteran of the United States Army that loved the American flag and eagle. Richard was a wrestler in high school and that carried over into his adult years as both a wrestling coach at the YMCA and local PIAA wrestling referee. Richard was a train enthusiast and worked at National Forge in Irving, PA where they made crankshafts for trains.
Richard was a member of the Indian Creek Christian Church in Indianapolis and was on the Church security team. Richard also worked at Indy Cylinder Head in Indianapolis until retiring.
He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara (Giltinan) Cummings; daughters, Carrie Jones and Corinne Paulson; son, James Cummings; sisters, Darlene Stewart, Marie Stewart, Linda Scalise, and Julie Passinger; brothers, Ed, Bill, Harold, and Bruce Cummings; and nine grandchildren (with one on the way). He is preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Elsie Cummings; sisters, Betty Cummings and Lois Gustafson; and brothers, Sid, Donald “Bub”, and Lou Cummings.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in Indian Creek Christian Church, 6430 S. Franklin Rd., Indianapolis, IN 46259, with visitation there from 9:00 a.m. until time of the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Indian Creek Christian Church or American Cancer Society.
