Richard Michael Smuck, age 89, of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away on Saturday, July 29, 2023. Richard was born in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late Marie (Kaurish) Smuck and Arthur Smuck. He is also preceded in death by his siblings, Arthur Smuck Jr. and Patricia "Pat" Faust. Richard was a lifelong Notre Dame fan and was rarely found without his hat. He was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church and enjoyed regularly attending bible studies. By trade, Richard was in the flooring business and continued with Coppingers Floor Covering after working in his family business, Smuck Floor Coverings for many years. In his younger years, the family spent almost every day making memories at The Riviera Club. They made the most of the neighborhood, sledding on Butler Hill and walking in Holcomb Gardens and Crown Hill Cemetery. He and his wife Kay loved Greyhounds and adopted many to rescue over the years. Pepaw/Grandpa always loved spending time with his grandchildren and teasing with them and making funny faces in photos.
Richard is survived by his wife, Kay (Hankins) Smuck; children, Elizabeth "Beth" Graham (Gregory), Jennifer "Jen" Smith, Kristopher "Kris" Smuck (Jamie); grandchildren, Megan Graham (Tyler Woolen), Nicholas Graham, Philip Graham, Mason Smith, Abigail Smith, and Kennedy Smuck; and great grandchildren, Gavin Jones and Mazzy Woolen.
Visitation for Richard will be held Friday, August 11, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at St Pius X Catholic Church, 7200 Sarto Drive, Indianapolis, Indiana 46240, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 12:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Richard's memory may be made to Heartland Hospice, 931 E 86th St #208, Indianapolis, Indiana 46240.
