Richard Lee Tetrick Sr.

Richard Lee Tetrick, Sr., age 89, of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away on Wednesday, June 9, 2021. Richard was born July 24, 1931 in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late Van and Faye (Harper) Tetrick. Richard is preceded in death by his wife, Joan, who passed six days prior, and his sister, Judith Van Kretchmer. Richard graduated from Shortridge High School and earned his Masters Degree of Business Administration from Indiana University. He was a US Army veteran who served during the Korean War and was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church and the Military Service Club. His grandchildren will remember their “Gramps” or “Popo” as a family man. He was always available to assist with our busy family - rides to or from school, shopping expeditions to the mall with Nanny, advice on a major purchase or investments. He had great stories from his time in Greene County on the family farm, past jobs he held, and time in military service. We had such respect for his life experience and knowledge he shared with us. We are better people today from listening and learning from him. During his final time with us, it was a pleasure to be in his company. He was warm and welcoming of visitors - giving fist bumps, holding our hands, the occasional joke, a smile and mischievous wink. He participated in life until the very end. The family is saddened by his loss, but we are pleased he did not have to be apart from his wife for too long. Richard is survived by his sons, Richard Lee Tetrick Jr. (Susan) and David Tetrick (Helen) and grandchildren, Matthew Tetrick (Kumiko), Kathryn Tetrick, Anne Tetrick, Lee Anne Charleston (Scott), Katie Tasci (Mehmet), Grace Marchal, Natalie Marchal, and Katie Marchal. The family would like to thank the physicians and staff at Urology of Indiana, especially Dr. John Ramsey, Beth, Ashley, Melinda, and Christy. They would also like to thank Heart to Heart Hospice and the caregivers at ComForCare. Their care enabled him and his wife to spend their final days at home surrounded by family and friends. Visitation for Richard will be Saturday, June 12, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 10:30 AM at St Pius X Catholic Church, 7200 Sarto Drive, Indianapolis, Indiana 46240. His Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 Saturday, June 12, 2021 at the church with entombment to follow at Hamilton Memorial Park, Westfield, Indiana.
