Born on January 2, 1942, in Indianapolis at St. Francis Hospital to Edward and Helen Rhodes, Rita was a lifelong resident of the city. She graduated from Scecina Memorial High School and earned a nursing degree from IUPUI. For 30 dedicated years, she served as a registered nurse at St. Vincent's Hospital, retiring to enjoy time with her family and the sunshine.
Rita is survived by her loving sister, Carol (Dave) Hurrle, and her five devoted children: Fred (Rachael) Ennis, Daniel (Linda) Ennis, Timothy Ennis, Amiee Ennis, and Meghan (Chris) Faulkens. She leaves a legacy of love in her eight grandchildren: Stephen Lewis, Kristin Pulliam, Alexis Lewis, Kyle Ennis, Donnie Ennis, Emily Candela, Delaney Crump, and Ezekiel Faulkens, as well as six great-grandchildren, with one joyfully anticipated.
Rita was a charismatic and cherished mother, grandmother, "Meemaw," nurse, and friend. Her warmth and kindness touched countless lives, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew her. She was immensely proud of her family, and we will strive to honor her memory by living lives that would make her proud. We love you, Meemaw.
