

Robert “Bob” P. Cavanaugh, 86, passed away January 9, 2018. He was born on December 22, 1931 in Indianapolis, Indiana to William and Mary (Flaherty) Cavanaugh, both of whom came to this country from County Galway, Ireland.
Bob was a graduate of Cathedral High School and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and he was a long-time member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians.
Although a lifelong bachelor, he had a large circle of family and friends. He enjoyed playing golf, taking long walks, spending an afternoon at the OTB watching the ponies, testing his skills in Las Vegas, and Sunday breakfast at Shapiro’s. He was especially fond of visiting his many cousins in Galway and Dublin.
Bob is survived by his sister Mrs. Helen (Harry) Lamb and 14 nieces and nephews: Kathy (Tom) Kozenski, Mike and Diane Lamb; Tom (Lisa), Bill, Bob (Tracy), Kevin, and Mark Nash; Karen (Len) Price; Mary Keenan; Patrick, Bill, and Mike Cavanaugh; and Mary (Russ) Henning; plus numerous great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents William and Mary Cavanaugh, his brothers Martin, Thomas and William, and his sister Mrs. Margaret “Peggy” Nash.
Visitation will be 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm Friday at Feeney-Hornak Shadeland Mortuary, 1307 N. Shadeland Ave. Indianapolis, Indiana 46219. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 am Saturday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 126 W. Georgia St. Indianapolis, Indiana. Burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery.
