

Robert Steven Dare, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 25, 2024, in Indianapolis, Indiana. Born on February 3, 1946, Steve lived a life marked by dedication, service, and love.
Steve is survived by his devoted wife, Mary Jo; his daughters, Stephanie Bryan (Dan) and Jessica Kenworthy (Todd); his grandchildren, K Bryan, Max Bryan, Nolan Kenworthy, Ava Kenworthy, and Grace Kenworthy. He is also remembered fondly by his brothers, Terry Dare and Jerry Dare. Steve was preceded in death by his sister, Marcia Flanders, and his parents, Naomi and Harry Dare.
Steve’s professional life was characterized by his service as an accountant for the Department of Defense for over 30 years. A proud veteran of the U.S. Air Force, he served in Vietnam. In retirement, Steve devoted his time to volunteering for not-for-profit organizations, notably Pathway to Recovery in Indianapolis, where his efforts made a meaningful impact.
Steve was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and baseball in general. He found immense joy in watching his grandchildren’s activities and sports. His enthusiasm for life and his deep love for his family were evident in all he did.
The family will hold a private service with a celebration of life to be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Pathway to Recovery, Inc., a cause close to Steve’s heart. Donations can be made online or sent to:
