
He was born in Indianapolis on October 18, 1953 and was a graduate of North Central High School ('71). Bob completed his undergraduate degree at Indiana University-Bloomington followed by IU Medical School in Indianapolis ('79), where he received his MD and a PhD in molecular genetics. He worked in his father's medical practice for a short time before moving to Boston to work as a genetics research scientist at Harvard Medical School. He made contributions in the study of hematology, especially in the area of platelet functions, and published in several scientific journals.
Bob volunteered with Habitat for Humanity and mentored high school and college science students in his lab. He enjoyed sports and music and was a talented photographer. He will be greatly missed.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Anna K. (Guy) and William R. Wise, MD.
Survived by sisters: Katherine (William) Stewart and Rebecca (Paul) Copenhaver; five cherished nephews, loving aunts, several cousins, and friends.
Services will be held on Saturday, November 28, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in the Crown Hill Gothic Chapel following visitation at 10:00 a.m. Interment Crown Hill Cemetery.
