Ronald Smith

Ronald, affectionately known as “Ronnie” was born in Indianapolis, Indiana to Annabelle & Sylvester Smith on May 19, 1937. He was the 9th of 11 children. He married Willie Edna Dawkins on August 25, 1956, in Indianapolis, Indiana. He proudly worked as a Machinist for Allison Transmission until his retirement in 1993. Ronnie was always a family man. He enjoyed cars, listening to music, fixing and building things around his house, traveling and creating memories with his family and friends.

Ronnie is preceded in death by his lovely wife of 67 years, Willie E. Smith; daughters, Sharon and Tonie; siblings, Margaret Smith, Jack C. Smith, Elizabeth Smith, Sylvester Smith Jr., Charles J. Smith, Janet I. Burch, Twyla Smith, James W. Smith.

Ronnie is survived by children, Vickie E. Smith & Ronald J. Smith (Marie); siblings, Betty Howcott, Karl Smith; grandchildren, Matthew D. Bonds, Brittany E. Jones, Jonathan J. Hunter (Ana), Jordan N. Hunter, Bianca M. Smith, Marcus J. Smith; Great-grandchildren, Bre’Anna S. Bonds, Kylah B. Jones, Kamrynn D. Lisenby, Kynzi E. Lisenby; Great-great grandchildren, Zy’Aire J. Reed, Hendrix Hunter, Bre’Lynn Bonds, Aaliyah Hunter.

A visitation for Ronald will be held Friday, September 5, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Crown Hill Funeral Home & Cemetery, 700 W. 38th St., Indianapolis, Indiana 46208, followed by a celebration of life at 12:00 PM with a procession to the cemetery to follow.
