Ronnie Jean Johnson

died on January 1, 2017 at her home in Indianapolis, surrounded by family and friends after a long battle cancer. Ronnie was born October 9, 1954 to the late Ida Mae-Ballard-Bass and the John L. Ballard, Sr. In 1992, Ronnie gave her life to Christ and Married Samuel Johnson, Jr. Ronnie attended Indianapolis Public Schools and was not only a loving, devoted, caring, and nurturing wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend- most of all, she was a child of God. This was still evident leading up to her sunsetting days. Ronnie will be deeply missed by all who loved and knew her. Ronnie is preceded in death by her parents, Ida Mae Ballard-Bass and John L. Ballard; 2 sisters, Gertie and Barbara; 1 brother, John; and daughter, Tanika. She leaves to cherish her loving husband of 24 years, Samuel Johnson Jr.; her son, James Whittington, Jr.; 6 grandchildren, Ashante' Johnson, James III, Rian, Sam, Nyla, and Love Whittington; 3 great-grandchildren; 1 sister, Joyce; 2 brothers, James and Stevie Ballard; and a host of nieces, nephews and many friends.

Ronnie requested a private memorial service with her family. The family wishes to thank all of those who fought with her during her long battle with cancer.
