On July 14, 1952, Ruth Lynn Johnson was born to the union of Herbert and Sylvia Morrison in Fort Wayne, Indiana. She was very active during high school. She sang in the choir and ran track before graduating from St. Mary Academy in 1971.
Ruth had a boisterous laugh and an infectious sense of humor. Ruth loved playing card games, frequently ordering her latest discoveries on QVC and HSN, and spending time with her family and close friends. She enjoyed traveling, reading, and watching movies. She had no problem with rushing you off of the phone or putting you out of her house so that she could “watch her program”. She was also known for being ready to take a road trip to the casino at any time.
Ruth lived a life of generosity and service. She was always looking for a way to be a blessing to those around her. If you tried to give her a rebuttal, she would respond by saying “Don’t block my blessings!”.
She spent the majority of her years touching the lives of children as a bus driver for Pike Township before retiring after 24 years of service.
Ruth professed a love for Christ at an early age. As a young adult, she attended St. Bridgett’s Catholic Church. In recent years, she served the Lord as part of New Era Church on the westside of Indianapolis. One of her favorite times of fellowship at New Era was her Sunday school class. She was so excited to continue to grow as a student of the word and share her revelation with others. The last few years of her life were truly her best days.
Ruth transitioned from Earth to be with our Father on Sunday, May 16, 2021. She was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Sylvia Morrison.
She was a loving mother and grandmother who leaves to cherish her memory: brother, David Lee Morrison, two sons, Anthony Lynn (TJ) Johnson (Crystal), and Keith Allen Johnson (Ashlei), and seven grandchildren: Aeriyae, Malachi, Rylen, Kaleb, Briannah, Harmony, and Hallelujah, and a host of other family members and friends.
