

Sj and his family were members of St. Peter Missionary Baptist Church where he accepted Jesus Christ and was baptized as a young child. He lived in Heidelberg, MS where attended Southside High School. After graduation he took a few classes at Jackson State University and decided in 1963 to enlist in the Military serving 20 years of service, He served in Vietnam, the Peace era with extended stays in Italy and Germany.
On February 8,1966 He married his best friend and love of his life Lois, Adopting all 6 of her children and raising them as his own. He worked for the department of corrections for many years in both Indiana and Maryland where he retired.
Sj was a loyal, strong, and loving man and a provider for anyone in need. A real man who never met a stranger. He loved fishing, crossroad puzzles, country western and "Gunfo" movies as he called it (Karate).
He transitioned into glory on April 18, 2016 @ the age of 72 years, 5 months, and 16 days He was preceded in Death by both of his parents, brother Maythew McKinzie, sister Mary Louise Bradford, He leaves to cherish his memory Wife Lois Ann McKinzie, Sisters Doretha (LE) Leflore and Delories McKinzie and Brother Leonard McKinzie, 8 children Ernest(Connie) Petty, Rudolph(Karen) Petty, Keith(Donna) McKinzie, Clay(Lisa) McKinzie, Cartier McKinzie, Keena (Jerry) Allison, Deonta McKinzie, and Deangelo McKinzie, 18 Grandchildren, 36 great grand children,1 great-great Granddaughter, and a host of family and friends.
