Sammie Tackett, 93, of Greenfield, Indiana was reunited with his wife, Sonja, in Heaven on Monday September 16, 2019. Sammie was born June 24, 1926 to the late Minda Tackett and George Tackett. Sammie served in the Army for many years, often being stationed in Germany where he met his lovely wife. They celebrated 59 years of marriage together, raised kids, and took many vacations back to Germany. After retiring from the Army, Sammie enjoyed watching different sports on TV. Late in life, those sports were watched with the company of his son's dog. Sammie is survived by; sons, Michael (Cynthia) Tackett; and Kevin (Kandy) Tackett; brothers, Arnold, Matthew, Normal, and Rance; and sister, Judy. In addition to his parents, Sammie is preceded in death by his wife; Sonja Tackett, along with many brothers and sisters. A visitation for Sammie will be held Saturday, September 21, 2019 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Feeney-Hornak Shadeland Mortuary, 1307 N Shadeland Ave, Indianapolis, Indiana 46219. A funeral service will occur Saturday, September 21, 2019 at 1:00 PM, 1307 N Shadeland Ave, Indianapolis, Indiana 46219. A burial will occur at Washington Park Cemetery East, Indianapolis, Indiana.
