Sgt. Harry Gurnell, Jr., 76, of Indianapolis, transitioned from labor to reward on the afternoon of January 2, 2018. Sgt. Gurnell was a member of Mt. Paran Missionary Baptist Church. He retired from the Indianapolis Police Department in 1997 after 28 years of service. He was also employed as a Chief Investigator with the State of Indiana before again retiring after 10 years, in 2007. He leaves to cherish his memory and celebrate his life, loving wife, Sandra Gurnell; son, Eric Gurnell, Jr., daughter Taniece Gurnell-Ortega (Theondra); siblings: Michael, Ronald, Steven, Sandra and Marie; 5 grandchildren; 5 step grandchildren and a host of extended family and friends.His first visitation is Monday, January 8, 2018, 4pm - 8pm in Williams & Bluitt Funeral Home, Peoples Chapel. The 2nd visitation is Tuesday, January 9, 2018, 11am - 12pm, followed by the homegoing service at 12pm at Mt. Paran Missionary Baptist Church. The interment is in Floral Park Cemetery.
