Stanley loved the Lord and professed a hope in Christ at an early age at St. Paul
A.M.E. Church where he served as an usher. He attended Indianapolis P.S. #56 and graduated from Arsenal Tech High School in 1970. Stanley was employed at Navistor and retired from there after 42 years
tenure. On August 24, 1985 he was united in holy matrimony with Rachel Johnson Mills.
In his early teen years, Stan played baseball on the Douglass Little League team. He was an avid sports enthusiast; he loved watching football and basketball; he loved bowling, fishing and tossing horsehoes which became a frequent summer activity with close friends. As a play on his name, church members, family and close friends would coin phrases like: “Stan! the man with the plan!” or “If nobody can Stan can!”. He always got a kick out of that.
Stan was preceded in death by his parents and stepson, Charles Lamont “Tana” Johnson.
Stanley’s wonderful life will always be cherished by his wife, Rachel Mill; daughter, Marchelle Mills; granddaughter, Unique English; sister, Wanda Toliver; niece Nakia Toliver; a host of step-grandchildren (who loved him dearly); best friends, Joe Hodgens, Felix Kehoe, Lee “Buzzy” Hubbard; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Stanley fought the fight of two battles with cancer; he kept the “Faith” and he
kept the “Lord” with him through it all.
