Stella Ruth Burton

Stella attended Indianapolis Public elementary schools. She graduated from Arsenal Technical High School in 1968. After high school, she enrolled in IUPUI and later began working as a Lab Technician at Winona, Riley and IU hospitals. She worked in the medical field for over 22 years.

Stella married William Ree Burton, Jr. on June 26, 1971. From this union, they had 2 children, Stella Ruth, Jr. and James Allen.

One of Stella's favorite hobbies was sewing. She could make anything from curtains, pants, dresses, blankets and more. She crocheted beautiful items in her spare time as well. Stella also loved to play a fun game of Scrabble with family and friends. If you ever stopped by her house, you were sure to get a good meal because she loved to cook. Stella was loving, caring and quick witted. Her personality was magnetic and captivating. That radiant smile is unforgettable. She made many friends while at the IU dialysis clinic over the years. She was proud grandmother to Jamie and Joshua, children of James.

Stella departed this life on October 30, 2018. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Stella leaves to cherish her loving memories her dear husband, William Ree Burton, Jr.; daughter Stella Ruth Burton, Jr. (John Ovelton); son James Allen Burton (Janelle); granddaughter Jamie; grandson Joshua Burton; brother, John Allen Smith; sister Sonja Smith as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
