Stephen Duane Harden Sr.

Stephen professed a belief in Jesus Christ at an early age while attending St. Paul Baptist Church in Indianapolis, IN.

Stephen attended Indianapolis Public Schools until the 5th grade, continuing his education in the Washington Township School District, graduating from North Central High School in 1972. After graduation, Stephen received certification as a licensed professional electrician and was a member of IBEW Local 481.

Stephen was employed by Barth and Schneider Electric Companies early in his career and was employed by Indianapolis Public School as an electrician retiring in 2014 after 37 years of employment.

Stephen was united in Holy Matrimony to Kimberly Bernard, February 24, 2004. Stephen and Kimberly shared a very close relationship and were best friends.

Stephen was an avid bowler and was very well known throughout the bowling community, once bowling a 299 game.

Stephen loved cars, he owned a 1970 “bright orange” Plymouth Road Runner that was his pride and joy. He and his friends would street race competitively and for fun.

Stephen was a very kind-hearted, funny and loving person. He spent a lot of his life selflessly helping others. He would assist anyone without hesitation. Helping others was his God given gift and he was always someone his family and friends could depend on. “Steve was a friend to many and loved by all”.

Stephen departed this life on Saturday, April 19, 2025 at 12:18 p.m. at the age of 71. He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Harden, daughter, Stephanie Harden, granddaughter, Jasbreill Harden, grandson Jeremiah Harden and great-grandson Ty’Shawn Boyd.

Stephen leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife, Kimberly Bernard, children, Danielle Harden, Sheri Harden, Stephen Harden, Jr, Stephen Harden, III, Nicholas Harden, Nicole Harden, David Scott (Kimberly) and Lawrence Scott, 27 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, mother, Ethel Harden, sister, Pamela Majors, and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A visitation for Stephen will be held Tuesday, April 29, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Crown Hill Funeral Home & Cemetery, 700 W. 38th St., Indianapolis, Indiana 46208. A celebration of life will occur Tuesday, April 29, 2025 at 1:00 PM, 700 W. 38th St., Indianapolis, Indiana 46208. A celebration of life will occur from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Crown Hill Funeral Home, 700 W. 38th St., Indianapolis, IN 46208.
