I was sorry to hear of Ted's passing. Even though I have not seen him since the early 70's (my family often vacationed in Walhalla at the same time) I could observe how kind he was and how important his family was to him. I knew Paula and Katie the best so my heartfelt condolences to them and Ruth.

My fondest memories from my childhood usually involved doing things with the Wambsganss clan, and Ted as much as anyone set the tone.  I grew up thinking that this is just how an extended family should be.  The parties with family friends and church, who were all kind of the same group, were great.  And the Wambsganss vacations to Walhalla seemed like heaven to me.  Ted was always so funny, and he took a great interest in us little ones.  His love spanned the generations, and he was like a friend to me as much as an uncle.  Ted was a wonderful man whose life touched many.

So sorry for your loss Ted was a wonderful man and will be missed greatly.

May God be with Ruth and her loving family and give them ease at this time.  I remember what a kind person Ted is from years ago, directing  the choir, etc.

To all the Family,I'M so sorry to read about Ted's passing in today's Star.  I worked at College Life from 1966 to 1973, and enjoyed every day there with Ted, Ed Buckley, Ken Pearcy, and so many others. The lunch room gathering was always a hoot. I must say that of all the people I can recall passing through my 75+ years Ted was a real standout as a true Christian and Gentleman. In the 40 years since I left College Life, my memory of Ted has never waned.  I am sorry for your loss, but happy for him.

Ted was a kind and gentle man who lived his faith. The first time our family worshipped at St. John, Ted and Ruth sought us out and made us feel welcome!  Our family still remembers that.  His love for the Lord was obvious.

Go in peace my friend.  Being the accompanist for the senior choir and Ted at St. John, Indy, his smile and "we'll get it" attitude always made me smile and appreciate him.  He was a gentle man and his family should always remember the good times that you have had with him.  God's love be with you all.

Ted was one of my music mentors and teachers...amazing that he would hand over the piano and organ over to me as a rookie accompanist when I was in high school.  He was always gentle and gracious.  My favorite memory?  Probably the night he caught me playing "Nola" on the St. John organ, all stops open.  Or maybe it was the Wednesday night he trapped a bat in a wastebasket next to the organ bench (where I was was sitting during choir practice) and tossed it outside.

My prayers are with all of you as you rejoice in his Homegoing, even while you miss his presence with you.

Ted is one of the kindest men I have been blessed to know.  His great smile and sometimes impish twinkle in his eye always made people feel that they were special to him. He was humble - not that he thought less of himself, but more in the sense that he truly thought of others before thinking of himself. His example of living life focused on God first, family and others second, and self third, had great influence on the lives of many people.
Even though I, personally, never received a nick-name from him, just knowing that he had nick-names for my dad, George, a.k.a. 'Greg', and husband, Jeff, a.k.a. 'Elmer', made me smile. 
Our lives are richer for having known Ted, and though his passing is bittersweet for us, I'm sure that the many friends and loved ones who've gone on before joyously welcomed him to the great reunion in heaven.
He will be greatly missed.

Hello Ruth and to the Wambsganss family.  I am very sorry to hear about Ted's passing.  Ted was an outstanding man in so many ways.  Not only did I see him as a great father to your loving children, he was a hard worker, a terrific neighbor and a positive & good natured man.  My memories of Ted were that he always had a smile on his face, always had a funny or nice things to say to us growing up, and simply was a pleasant person to be around at all times.  So many good things to say about Ted, and I am so thankful to have known him and to have been his neighbor & friend.  I'm sending prayers and extending my deepest sympathy to each of you.  Ted will be missed.  I love you all and will be thinking of you during this time of loss.  God Bless everyone.

Ted was not only my father-in-law, but was someone I knew and admired my whole life.  When I was little he nicknamed me "Range Rider" and our family enjoys calling me this still today.  We all loved him and he will be sorely missed.  He's in Heaven now with some other pretty good folks, but we sure would have liked some more time with him.

Many great memories of my Grandpa - he was the best story teller. As a kid, I loved spending the night and he would tell us bed time stories. Rumplestiltskin - my favorite. He always had a smile and a joke to tell. He showed me the meaning of family and the importance of making memories together. He was loved dearly and will be missed. Love you, Grandpa!!
