Tom was born in LaPorte, Indiana, and grew up in Broad Ripple, Indiana, where he attended Broad Ripple High School. He later attended Eastern Illinois University before returning home to central Indiana for the remainder of his life. Tom was a gentleman of a bygone era, always willing to silently help anyone in need, and he derived great joy from an excellent meal. Tom was an athlete, custom home builder, equestrian, Master of Fox Hounds, Master Breeder of Japanese Bantams, entrepreneur, and Hoosier fan, but he was most proud of being a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He did it all with boundless energy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Mary Chandler, brother George (Pat), and sister Gloria Cox. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Linda; his children Tom (Megan), Ann (John) Brown, Greg (Donna), their mother Carole Lynn Chandler, and bonus children Lara Farmer and Tracey (Mike) Lackman; grandchildren, Alexandra (Tim) Chandler , Emily (Alex) Buening, Paul Brown, Grace Brown, Evan (Betsy) Brown, Austin Chandler, Caitlin (Eddie) Patterson, Zachary Farmer, Riley Farmer, Katherine Lackman, and Ryan Lackman; great-grandchildren, Shepard Chandler, Chandler Buening, Tommy Buening, and Frederick Brown; and niece, Tedi (Bob) Dietrich along with their children Isaiah (Whitney) Dietrich, Moriah (Ryan) Nazar, and Jessie Dietrich.
A special thank you to Hospice for their loving care and to dear friends Patty Garry, Cathy Robards, Mary Jo Gold, and Jan Zickefoose for their constant support, friendship, and generosity with their time, providing comfort and companionship during this time.
