

Veronica Marvella Austin , also known as “Ronnie” or “Teddy Girl” was born December 14, 1962, in Indianapolis, Indiana to Willie M. Austin and the late Barbara Jean Austin. Also preceding her in death was her sister, Kimberly Austin-Brown.
Veronica accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior as a youth. She remained a “Christian” all her life.
Veronica graduated from Arlington High School, in Indianapolis, Indiana and further her education at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana. She remained an “IU – Hoosier” alumni.
Veronica was a dedicated and hard-working employee. She worked at Ivy Tech College, Indianapolis, Indiana as an accountant for over 20 years. She was currently employed with American Art Clay Company as an accountant and had been there since 2021.
Veronica had many passions throughout her life. She loved travelling statewide and international, but her favorite trip always was going to Chicago. She loved crafting and tailgating and she was a real fan of Indy 500. Another passion she had was her charity work. Every Christmas Holiday season Veronica gathered family and friends to prepare and pass out more than 100 “blessing bags” for the homeless known as “Barb’s Blessing Bags”!! In addition to that she would gift, “Thank-you bags” for those who assisted her in this endeavor! This was Veronica, loving and giving.
Veronica was known for being stylish , laid back and cool, aka “The Aviators.” She had the ability to bling everything. She loved and collected classic silver jewelry. She had a phenomenal way of organizing everything!! Have you seen her basement?? Visiting her basement was like shopping at “Ikea,” and Costco!!
Veronica loved her family and friends. She actually adored her family and made lasting memories with them. She had many close cousins who grew up together who were like sisters and brothers. She was always there for them, lending a helping hand. She didn’t have any biological children, but she considered her nieces, nephews, and her friend’s child(ren) as her own.
Veronica transitioned to Heaven on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at 10:41am at the age of 64 years old. She lived an extraordinary life , full of love and she will be missed.
Veronica leaves to cherish her memory, her Father Willie M. Austin (Thelma), her Brother Virgil Austin, of Indianapolis, IN., her Aunt Deloris Harris , her Uncle Leon Donald Carruthers, of Chicago, Il., her nieces, Probia, Idrianna, Egypt and Essence, her Nephews, Arias, Adison, Artez,and Deiondre, her special sistah/cousin, Lynette D. Watkins, her longtime Companion Raymond V. Fields, her special friend Jill Carter, and her Uncles, Aunts, and cousins and a host of friends.
A visitation will be held at Crown Hill Funeral Home & Cemetery, Remembrance Hall, located at 700 W. 38th St., Indianapolis, Indiana, 46208, on January 31, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm.
Following the visitation, a Celebration of Life will take place at the same location, beginning at 2:00 pm.
