
William was born in Erin, Tennessee to Willie L. and Sallie E. Skelton on May 5, 1958. He graduated from Arlington High school in Indianapolis, Indiana. He married Heidi Skelton on May 8, 1982, in Washington D.C. He served 13 years in the United States Army and worked as a truck driver for the US Postal Service. He received the Efficiency Honor medal from the US Army during his time of service. He was involved with Fort Benjamin Harrison Firefighter dispatchers, an Indy Go bus driver, a part time Funeral Escort and Our Brothers, Our Sisters Place. He was the chairman of Together we can of Indianapolis Cocaine Association and was a member of the “Rough Ryders” motorcycle club. He had an Honorable discharge from the Army. In his free time, he enjoyed hobbies from fishing to watching TV.
William is Preceded in death by his Wife: Heidi Skelton, Dad: Willie L. Skelton, Mom: Sallie E. Skelton and Brother: Tony A. Skelton.
William is survived by his Daughter: Katrina Hollins Wilkens (Latisha Wilkens), Sister: Sandra Taylor (Glenn Taylor), Significant other: Paula Russell/ Foxie. His Stepsons: Roy Maggett and Mario Maggett. His 7 Grandchildren: Chelsia Hill, Rasheed Bass, Allorick Hollins, Jadaya Hollins, Rudolph (Bobby Springer Jr.), Cameron Murrer and Bradley Murrer. Lastly, his 2 Great Grandchildren: Amir Bass and Da’ Zyon Hollins.
Visitation for WIlliam is scheduled for Saturday, October 8th from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Crown Hill Funeral Home, 700 West 38th Street, Indianapolis, Indiana 46208. WIlliam's funeral services will begin at 1:00 PM after his visitation with Military Honors at his graveside immediately following his services.
