Wilma completed her high school education at George Washington High School. She excelled at many things, and her education was no exception. She graduated high school in 1974 at the age of 16 – a testament to her sharp brain and how much she valued education. Wilma also attended Indiana University Bloomington, and pledged Omega Pearl during her second year of college. Wilma chose a career path in the legal profession.
Wilma worked as a Legal Assistant for UAW Legal Services for nearly 30 years. In 2015, she accepted a position as Deputy Clerk for the City of Indianapolis & Marion County, where she worked until her passing.
Wilma accepted Christ into her life at a young age at Mt. Zion Baptist Church. She found comfort in prayer, strength in scripture, and peace in God’s promises. Her faith in the Lord always remained strong, even during her most challenging times.
Wilma was called home to be with the Lord on Easter Sunday, April 20, 2025, at 67 years, 9 months, and 12 days old. She was preceded in death by her father, George (1986), her mother, Alma (2020), and her youngest brother, Jeffery (2023).
It’s impossible to talk about Wilma and not mention her larger-than-life personality. You could always count on her vibrant spirit to light up every room she entered. Wilma loved fashion and jewelry. Her stylish wardrobe was bright, bold, and full of joy, which reflected her personality and outlook on life. If you ever needed a road trip partner, Wilma was the person you could count on. She was fiercely independent and lived life on her own terms.
Wilma cherished her family and friends more than anything. She loved spending time with those closest to her, and she never missed an opportunity to play music and dance around the room.
Wilma was a devoted daughter, sister, aunt, niece, cousin, and friend, and she will be truly missed by 1 sister: Elaine Wells (Malcolm); 3 brothers: David Talley (Jennifer), Kenneth Talley Sr., and Donald Talley; 3 nieces: Ash Lee Talley-Williams (Charles), Kendra Rhim (Shea), and Daisha Talley; 2 nephews: Kenneth Talley Jr. (Amber) and Terrence Talley; and 4 great-nieces: K’Lynn Talley (15), Cali Williams (8), Kamryn Talley (7), and Nala Rhim (1); 3 bonus sisters: Trish Jackson, Tonya Wood, and Donna Gilbert; and special friend, Keith Carpenter, as well as a host of other family and friends who loved her deeply.
