

Chester Hoven, 85, of Jackson, passed away September 7, 2015 at his residence. He was a loving father, husband, grandfather and friend, a veteran of the U.S. Army and the owner of Hoven’s Upholstery. As a founding member of the Clarke-Washington Coon Hunter’s Association, he was actively involved in the Elvis Roberts Memorial Coon Hunt which raised money for St. Jude’s Hospital. He is preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Mildred A. Hoven; his twin sister, Esther H. Maxwell; sister, Gladys Chandler and parents, Atwood and Emma Hoven. He is survived by his children, Chester R. (Glenda) Hoven, Amanda J. (Donnie) Havelin, both of Dalton, GA, Sharon H. Bumpers, Tammy L. (Darrell) Parnell, both of Jackson, Roxie A. Hoven of Norfolk, VA; grandchildren, Alicia (Doug) Morgan, Benjamin Knapp, Lauren Havelin, Kate Havelin; great-grandchildren, Daniel Morgan, Peyton Morgan; beloved nieces, Mary Hilt, Wanda (Raymond) Pugh ; brother, Earl Hoven and countless friends, family and loved ones. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 12:15 at Stave Creek Baptist Church in Jackson with the Revs. Sonny Hoven and Bill Ellis officiating. Visitation is Tuesday from 5-7 p.m. and Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Lathan Funeral Home in Jackson. Interment will be at Stave Creek Baptist Church with Lathan Funeral Home directing. Active pallbearers will be Jason Sullivan, Charles Hixson, Robert Michael “Tank” Wilson, Jimmy Chancey, Chester Anderson and Raymond Pugh. Honorary pallbearers will be Dink Lankford, Larry Parnell, Woody Parnell, Andy Parnell, Sammy Hoven, Tim Sullivan, Grady Griffin, Ed Guy and Carey Parker.
