

Allen G. McPhail Jr. married Irene Dozier on March 2, 1945, and together they raised two daughters, Phyllis and Donna. He graduated from Clinton High School in 1941, and soon after, was drafted in the Air Force, where he worked as a Refueling and Recovery Foreman at the Royal Netherlands Military Flying School, which would later be renamed Jackson Army Air Base at Hawkins Field.
Throughout his life, Allen was deeply committed to his family and enjoyed sharing stories of the past. He went on to own and operate The Gulf Service station in Jackson, Mississippi, a business that reflected his hardworking nature and strong ties to his community. Whether he was boating, riding four-wheelers and camping at the Homochitto River in his youth, watching Looney Tunes with his grandchildren, or reminiscing about his military experiences, Allen’s life was always centered around family, laughter, and a passion for preserving history.
Allen G McPhail is preceded in death by his wife Irene Dozier McPhail, his dad Allen McPhail Sr, his mom Janey Scott McPhail, two sisters; Ruth Steffey and Ruby Henderson, and his great grandchild Cody Allen Smith.
He is survived by his two daughters, Phyllis Dunn (Jimmy) and Donna Ware (Rodger); five grandchildren, Kim Reynolds, Brandy Abernathy, Shelley Ratcliff, Phillip Dunn, and Lee Norris; and four great-grandchildren, Noah Reynolds, Conner Abernathy, Kylie Reynolds, and Kristen Johnson.
A visitation will be held Monday, January 20, 2025 from 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm at Lakewood Funeral Home, 6011 Clinton Blvd Jackson MS 39209 with a celebration of life service following in the Lakewood Funeral Home chapel.
