

Anita Clary, 79, of Florence, MS, passed away on February 24, 2024, of an aneurysm. She is survived by her husband of 24 years, Raymond Clary, Jr.; son Keith Megehee of Jackson, MS; daughter Miriam Cooper (Ray) of Marshall, TX; son Will Megehee (Michelle), of Frankville, AL; son Stephen Cain of Florence, MS; stepdaughter Laurie Williams (Allen) of Thomaston, GA; stepdaughter Debra Tarver (Chris), of Covington, LA; stepson Austin Moriarity (Elizabeth) of Bassfield, MS; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husband Robert (Bob) Cain, brother Wilhelm Muehlsteff, and sister Renate Stevens.
Anita was born in Offenbach, Germany, during World War II. Post-war rubble was her playground. She came to the US in 1963 after marrying Daniel (Byron) Megehee. She was a 4.0 accounting major at Mississippi State University. In 1979 she moved to Vicksburg, MS, and began working at River Transportation Co., now Kinder Morgan Bulk Terminals, where she spent her career, retiring as manager of the port facility. She was named one of the Delta’s top 50 businesswomen.
A stalwart of patience and generosity, Anita provided a loving home across the years not only to her children, but also to many nieces and nephews, cats and dogs. A follower of Jesus, she was a longtime member of Vicksburg First Church of the Nazarene before joining Westminster Presbyterian Church with her husband Ray.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 9 at 10:30am, Westminister Presbyterian Church, 3601 Halls Ferry Rd. in Vicksburg, with Rev. Scott Reiber officiating. Pre-service visitation will begin at 9:30am. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to your charity of choice.
