

Audrey Lynn “Toby” Denson, 74, passed away peacefully Friday, January 13, 2012 at Highland Home Nursing Home in Madison, MS. Wright and Ferguson on Highland Colony Parkway is handling the arrangements. Funeral Services will be Friday, January 20, 2012 at 11:00am, preceded by visitation 10:00am. Burial will follow at the Wright and Ferguson Mausoleum.
Toby, was born in Natchez, MS on February 16, 1937. Toby graduated from Central High School and attended The University of Southern Miss where she was a member of the Kappa Delta Sorority. She graduated from Jackson State University in 1976 with a degree in Early Childhood Education. For over 30 years Toby was involved in pre-school education in many capacities including classroom teaching and/or administrative duties at Broadmeadow United Methodist Church, Christ United Methodist Church, Madison-Ridgeland Academy, and St. Francis of Assisi Catholic School-Madison. Toby had served on the Church Staff at First Baptist Church-Jackson and First Baptist Church-Madison and had been a Consultant for the MS Baptist Convention and the Southern Baptist Convention.
Toby loved reading, traveling and camping and was a member of Colonial Heights Baptist Church.
The family would like to say thank you to Highland Homes and PAX Hospice for the care she received over the length of her illness.
Toby is preceded in death by her loving husband of 48 years Robert E. “Bob” Denson, Sr., her son Richard M. Denson, her mother Audrey Jones Tobias and her father Marion H. Tobias.
Survivors include her daughter, Lyn D. Harkins (Tommy) of Jackson, MS and her son Robert E. “Tad” Denson, Jr. (Debbie), of Daphne, AL; grand-children Thomas M. “Tripp” Harkins, III and Leslie Ann Harkins of Jackson, MS, Heather Denson Hawk (Robert) and Hartley Denson Sullivan (Michael) of Mobile, AL, Haydn Ellise Denson of Daphne, AL and Hannah Kaylyn Denson of Oklahoma City, OK
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials may be made to The “Richard Denson Endowed Scholarship for Dance Education”.
