

Mrs. Sauls was a 1943 graduate of Clinton High School, Clinton, MS. She had been employed with the Clarion Ledger, and the telephone company (formerly known as Southern Bell).
She was a very kind and gentle soul, who seemed to always wear a smile and was admired for her hospitality and ability to make people feel comfortable and welcome. Her home and ear were always available to whoever was in need of comfort or advice. She was also an excellent cook and seemed to always have something ready to share. Along with this ability, she was a very gifted seamstress and loved to sew. She designed and made her son’s uniform as Drum Major of the Clinton High School Band, as well as uniforms for the Flag Corps for the Mississippi State University Band, dance costumes for recitals along with many other projects. She thoroughly enjoyed being a Homemaker.
Mrs. Sauls was preceded in death by her husband, John Parham Sauls; one grandson, Matthew Ryan Sauls; parents, Emma and Marvin Purvis, two sisters and one brother.
She is survived by four children, Edward Sauls (Marilyn) of Georgia, formerly of Clinton, Brenda Bullock (Ronnie) of Hattiesburg, MS, Kent Sauls of Georgia and David Sauls also of Georgia; seven grandchildren, Berk Sauls; Bethany Magnus (Matt) all of Georgia; Jonathan (Misty) of Florence, MS; Katy Bullock of Petal, MS; Kyle Bullock (Nikki) of Houston, TX; and Aaron Bullock of Hattiesburg, MS; along with seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life service will be held at Lakewood Memorial Funeral Home on Clinton Blvd, Jackson, MS on Saturday, November 26, at 11 a.m., with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Lakewood Memorial Park, Jackson, MS.
