Benita Markovich

Ms. Benita Markovich, 72 of Elizabethtown, Kentucky, passed away Friday, March 8, 2019. Born on October 6, 1946 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She is the daughter of the late Benjamin Ryburn Ramey Jr. and Floretta Porta Ramey.

Benita moved from Louisville, KY to Clinton, MS in 1980 where she worked for Mississippi Valley Gas until 2004. Following her time there, she briefly worked at the Ronald McDonald House in Jackson before retiring.

She is survived by her daughter, Brewer Markovich Eklund and husband Dr. Brian Eklund of Elizabethtown, KY. Benita was known as Nana to many grandchildren including Avery Elizabeth Pope, Parker Ramey Pope, Ashley Christine Eklund, Kerri Lynn Eklund, Camden Shayne Eklund, and Shannon Renee Eklund. She was a great grandmother to Karsyn Rebecca Eklund and Hudson Shayne Eklund.

Funeral services will begin on Friday, March 15th at Lakewood Funeral Home starting at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at Lakewood Memorial Park. Plans for a Celebration of Life will be determined at a later date. Instead of sending flowers, the family requests that you donate to the Ronald McDonald House in Benita’s name.
