

Bernice Malone Lindsey, 92, passed away on Sunday, March 13, 2022, surrounded by family. Bernice was born June 22, 1929, to Alfred and Virdie Malone. Bernice grew up in Caledonia, Mississippi. Upon graduating from high school, she moved to Jackson and attended Draughon’s Business College. She started working for the U.S. Forestry Department as a civil service employee. She spent the next 70 years doing what she loved, working with people and helping others. She worked many years as a bookkeeper and tax preparer. She fulfilled her lifelong dream and started her own company, TreyCo Accounting Service. She always said that those years of working with clients was what she was meant to do. She was a member of Alta Woods Baptist Church. She loved the people she met in her Sunday School where she made lifelong friends. She enjoyed bird watching, tending to her flower garden, and spending time with her family and friends.
Bernice is preceded in death by her parents, 6 brothers (Granville, Gurley, Floyd, Newman, Cecil, Pete), 4 sisters (Evie, Jessie, Margie, Jewel), and one son, Phillip, of Napierville, IL.
Bernice is survived by her daughter, Brenda Lindsey Lee of Crystal Springs, MS, her son, Greg Lindsey (Sheila) of Florence, MS, 2 Daughters-in-law, Beth Lindsey and Antoinette Lindsey, 7 grandchildren, Keith Lindsey and Brett Lindsey of Ridgeland, MS, Andrew Lindsey and Sarah Lindsey of Napierville, IL, Jordan Lee (Amanda) of Crystal Springs, Anna Katherine Lindsey and John Michael Lindsey of Florence, MS, and one great grandchild, Weston Lee.
Visitation will be held at Lakewood Funeral Home (Clinton Blvd.) on Wednesday, March 16 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Thursday at 11:00 AM with visitation one hour prior. Interment will be at Lakewood South Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
