Bobbie Hester, a true Southern lady, took leave of us on November 4th. She never feared nor dreaded this moment, as faith was her strength, as well as her abiding love for her late husband, John T. Hester.
Bobbie was born in Bonita, Mississippi in 1915, just south of Meridian, and eventually, after a brief period of her parents' residency in Arkansas, returned to Meridian as a child. She met John Hester in high school, which eventually led to their marriage in Dekalb in 1934. After several years of marriage and two children, John volunteered to enter World War II in the Corps of Engineers. Upon his return, they moved to Jackson, which has remained home through four address changes.
In addition to raising two sons, Bobbie worked for both McKesson and Robbins and Mississippi Baptist Foundation in Jackson. After both their retirements, Bobbie and John had many happy years together with friends and travel.
Bobbie was preceded in death by her parents, Nancy Jane and Joel Williams, her husband, John T. Hester, her older son, John T. Hester, Jr. (Jack), her brothers Graham Williams of Hattiesburg and Johnny Williams of China Lake , California, her sister Glenn Downey of Meridian, and brother, Waylan and sister Ruth who both died in infancy.
She is survived by a son, Douglas, of Jackson, and three grandchildren, Jon Wyatt Hester of Parker, Colorado, Thomas Andrew Hester of Burbank; California, and Sherry SanMartin of Greeley, Colorado, and five grandchildren, Shane and Colin Hester of Parker, Colorado, Ryan and Keaton McCartney of Greeley, Colorado, and Maddy Clyne of Greeley, Colorado.
Visitation at Wright & Ferguson will be at 11:00 AM Thursday with a service at 1:00 PM. Graveside will be at Lakewood Cemetery following the service. Online guestbook www.wrightferguson.com
