Carolyn, affectionately know as “Sweet Candi” was born August 11, 1965 in Jackson to her loving parents Joan and Howard Brown. She lived a full and happy life surrounded by her parents, sister Cindy, and grandparents Mimmie, Mima and Granddaddy. In her early years, she attended the Little Red School, MSS, St. Richards and several public education programs making friends and learning to read and write incredibly. Later, she attended the day program at the Mustard Seed and Miss Ruby’s Calvary Care and Summer Camp.
In 2007, Son Valley, a ministry of Baptist Homes was created to provide a protective and loving environment for special needs individuals. Candi was one of the first residents. She has made many friends whom are considered family. Candi has greatly enjoyed all the activities from shopping, going out to eat, movies, bowling and all the seasonal sports - soccer, basketball and baseball. Candi loved Elsa and Frozen. She loved to dance and sing. She’s quite the entertainer, often singing Let it Go! The Joy Prom, barnyard dances, fall festivals, birthday parties and Christmas celebrations were always a highlight!
Candi sweet spirit is so contagious. She was always happy, laughing and having fun. She is so loved by so many and she has loved us all so well; unconditionally, selflessly and wholeheartedly! May we learn from her! A very special thanks to all the incredible Son Valley staff who took such excellent care of our sweet Candi. Your incredible kindness, love and compassion and attention to her needs is so appreciated. Thank you! Thanks also to all the residents who were her friends. You all were her family as well.
