Doris Y. Goodwin

Doris L Goodwin, 95 passed away at Hospice Ministries of Ridgeland , on April 5, 2015 Ms. Goodwin was born December 11, 1919 to Beulah Barnett Yarbrough and C.F. Yarbrough of Laurel, Ms. She is a graduate of George S. Gardiner High School in Laurel, Mississippi. She married Harrold H. Goodwin in 1940, and they had two daughters. Ms. Goodwin had a long career at Allstate Insurance Company, where she retired in 1985 after 25 years of service. She was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Jackson Ms. She enjoyed many wonderful years with her church family. She is survived by her daughters, Patricia A Meek and Eileen Hughes of Byram; sisters, Wilma Daniel of Clinton, MS and Jessie Gathwright of New Jersey; grandchildren, Michele Meek Williams (Todd) of Clinton, Jennifer Hughes Ramsey (Chad) of Clinton, and Stephanie Huges Baird (Fortson) of Madison. Ms. Goodwin had eight great grandchildren; Megan, Travis, Clayton, Dallas, Presley, Will, Walker & Weston. She is preceded in death by her husband, Harold H. Goodwin; mother, Beulah Barnett Yarbrough Herring; sister, Edna Keenan; brothers, Lamar and Curtis Yarbrough. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at 10:00 am at Lakewood Memorial Funeral Home in Jackson, MS. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am at Lakewood Memorial Funeral Home. Burial to follow in Lakewood Memorial Park. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Ms. Goodwin’s life. Pallbearers: Walter Carter, Adam Eason, Todd Williams, Mike Barker and Fortson Baird.
