

Mrs. Earline Rutland Walker, 88, passed away on Thursday, January 14, 2016 at Baptist Hospital in Jackson. Visitation will be held from 2:00-4:00 PM on Sunday, January 17, 2016 at Lakewood Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 10:00 AM in the funeral home chapel with visitation one hour prior.
Mrs. Earline was born on June 17, 1927 in Lawrence Co, MS to Early and Lois Greer Brister. She has resided in the Greater Jackson Area for the past 70 years. Over the years, she worked at Jackson Casket Company, R.M. Hendricks, and most recently at Sam’s Club where she worked for 15 years as a demo lady until her retirement at age 82. She was a member of Pearson Road Baptist Church in Pearl.
Mrs. Earline is preceded in death by her husbands, Charles Rutland (married 28 years) and Melton Walker (married 16 years); parents; and one brother, Hugh Brister.
She is survived by her son, Danny Rutland (Melesia) of Flowood, MS; sisters, Joyce Smithee of Ruth, MS and Mary Edwards (Jimmy) of Bush, LA; granddaughters, Mandy Horton (Jason) and Meredith Rutland(fiancé, Jay Wiegartner); great grandson, Hunter Horton; and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Mississippi Baptist Health Systems- Faith Relations at 1225 N. State Street, Jackson, MS 39202 or the Doc Quick Scholarship Fund (Mississippi College) at P.O. Box 4005, Clinton, MS 39058.
