George Edward Abernathy, 88, passed away on Thursday, September 1, 2022. Visitation will be held at Lakewood Funeral Home on Saturday, September 10 from 9:30 to 11:00 AM with the funeral service to begin at 11:00 AM. Interment will be at Lakewood Memorial Park.
Mr. Abernathy was born on August 9, 1934 to the late David and Bell Abernathy.
He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother and three sisters; granddaughter, Rebecca “Becky” Porter; and his son-in-law, Johnny Bishop.
Mr. Abernathy is survived by his children, Joe Abernathy (Spring), David Abernathy, and Susan Bishop; brothers, Cecil, Jimbo and Steve Abernathy; mother of his children, Sarah Abernathy; 4 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
