It's been 5 years but it still seems like yesterday!  I spent the afternoon with you and Sherry at the hospital, and I stayed until the ambulance  came around 6:30 p.m. to transport you to Hospice. You were supposed to be there for only a couple of weeks while Sherry had some much-needed surgery. I was so shocked when Angie called me a few hours later (shortly  after midnight) to tell me you were gone!! I still wonder how that could have happened. I will always love and miss you.  I know you and Bailey have spent your days there trying to find something to build but, praise God, Heaven is already perfect, which I'm sure y'all  have already  discovered.

Sherry, you already know how much I love(d) Leo, but I'll tell you again.  He was more like a brother to me than a brother-in-law.  He loved you so much and his world revolved around you, and I can only imagine how much you will miss him.  I keep thinking about the old George Jones song, 
"He Stopped Loving Her Today" because it describes Leo's love for you.  I know Bailey was so happy to meet him when he entered Heaven.  They were so much alike and enjoyed doing things together.  Wish I could have asked him to give Bailey a big hug for me, but when I spent Sunday afternoon with you and Leo, neither of us had any idea that he would be leaving us in just a matter of hours.  I miss him already, and  will always cherish the many good times we all had together.  Always remember how much I love you, and I am here for you any time you need me.



So very sorry for your loss.  My mom and Aunt thought a lot of Leo.  My mom was Mary Lee and my  Aunt Nonie Glaze.  They were 1st cousins.  Please know my thoughts and prayers are with you all.  God Bless.

Leo was a kind and gentle man.  He always had a story to tell and loved to sit and talk with his family and friends.  He will be greatly missed.  

Dr. Russell meant so much to our family. He was so good to mother (Helen) for many years as his assistant and friend.  She knew every move he was gonna make and he knew hers too!  They are probably discussing some type of dental procedure now!  So sad to hear this and our prayers are with you all.  Love, Sheila

So sad to hear. Enjoyed working with Dr. Russell for many years. Considered him not only my boss but my friend. Praying for all the family. 

Dr. Leo was a close and dear friend of my family from as long ago as my memory serves.  My late father (Carl Woods) shared many of the same passions. I remember my father and Dr. Leo flying family's to see their children at the Shrine Hospitals. I remember Dr. Leo and Dad being the cornerstone of the Forest Shrine Motor Corp. I remember Dr Leo always being with us at Deer Camp and Dr. Leo treating me just like one of his own boys. Dr. Leo was my Dentist even years after we moved to Birmingham. I can't think of many childhood memories that he was not part of. RIP Dr Leo and I'm sure Dad will be glad to share your company again. Thoughts and prayers for all of the Russell's from Joyce myself and the rest of the Woods family!

P.S. I never smell a cigar when Dr Leo doesn't come to mind....

He was preceded in death by his parents, Manuel Lester and Marjorie Russell and his son, Tim McAdory.
 
He is survived by his wife, Sherry Russell; sons, Harold Leo Russell, Jr. (Beth) and Ron Russell (Christy); daughters, Angie King (Greg) and Karon Martin (Steve); and several grandchildren, step-grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
