

Harold Lavelle Moss, Sr. passed away December 15, at his home. He was born in Carthage, MS on February 11, 1933. After graduating from Carthage High School, he served in the United States Air Force for 4 years. While enlisted, he volunteered to go to Korea and was awarded expert rifleman and several other citations. While stationed at Carswell Air Force base in Fort Worth, Texas, he met and married his wife, Johnnie Marie Stafford, in 1954. He later graduated from Mississippi College and retired at the early age of 53 from Jackson Public School District as the Director of Purchasing and Warehousing.
His favorite hobbies included fishing, hunting and gardening. He was always sharing his bounty with family and friends. He also enjoyed traveling and recently visited many places on his bucket list.
Harold is preceded in death by his mother, Juanita Moss Lutts, his wife of 53 years, Marie Moss, and an infant daughter, Cheryl. He is survived by his son Harold Moss, Jr. and wife Debi, Daughter Teri Mitchell, Abbie Leopold and Norma Allen and family. The family would like to thank all medical personnel that treated Harold during his illness, and all who have offered prayers and support.
At his request, there will be no funeral. Visitation will be held at Lakewood Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 17, 2014 from 3-7 PM. A private burial will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Harold's memory to the American Cancer Society or Friends of Alcoholics (Harold's favorite charity).
