

He loved being in the youth group at Bowmar Avenue Baptist Church, playing sports, and being in Boy Scouts Troop 7 where he earned the distinction of Eagle Scout in 1972. He loved the outdoors and hunting. After graduating from St. Aloysius High School, he attended The University of Mississippi earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration and was a member of Phi Kappa Psi fraternity. In September 1981, he began at Hinds Community College as a Campus Police Officer. While working he earned an Associate’s Degree from Hinds in Data Processing and a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science from Mississippi College. In the mid-1980s, he became the Director of Student Activities and continued his education earning a Master’s in Community Counseling from Mississippi College. In 2008 at Hinds, he became a Counselor. At Hinds, he was named a Hinds Hero and a Distinguished Chapter Advisor for Phi Theta Kappa. He assisted the Hi-Steppers and Cheerleaders, announced halftime shows for the Band and Hi-Steppers, announced soccer games, provided sound and emceed the Raymond Country Fair, Hinds golf tournament, South Rankin County Rotary Club car shows and many other events for many years. He was a longtime member of the Raymond Fire Department. He had certifications as a lifeguard, EMT, in law enforcement, firefighting, crisis intervention management and many, many other things. While a member of Bolton Baptist Church he served as the youth leader, music leader, and deacon. He was currently an active member of Calvary Baptist Church in Vicksburg singing in the choir and serving on several committees there.
Jack had a passion for serving others and never hesitated to step in and help. He loved God, his family, his Ole Miss Rebels, his Hinds family, his church family, and friends. He loved!
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Angela; his daughter, Anna; his son, Hunter; his father, Jack Hite Sr; his brother, Robert Hite (Joy); many aunts, uncles, cousins, and a host of close friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lela Hite.
Visitation will be February 10, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Lakewood Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life service will be held on February 11, 2026, at 11:00 am in the Chapel at Lakewood. Burial will be at Lakewood Memorial Park.
